🎯 How to beat a poke (long-range) team in Marvel Rivals
Marvel Counters guide · Updated October 8, 2026
A poke team wears you down from afar: snipers and ranged damage behind big shields. It never wants a close fight. If you stay at their range trading shots, you lose health little by little until you can't fight anymore.
How to spot it on the loading screen
Snipers or long-range damage: Hawkeye, Black Widow, Hela.
Shield tanks covering them: Magneto, Doctor Strange, Groot.
Healers who also stay back, like Invisible Woman or Rocket Raccoon.
Why it's dangerous and where its weak point is
Poke depends on keeping distance. Its weakness is the close fight: snipers usually can't defend themselves when someone lands on top of them. The key is to cross the open space quickly and protected, and reach their backline.
The 2-2-2 comp the tool recommends against that enemy: Magneto to cross protected, Venom to get into their backline and two duelists who jump right on the snipers.
The exact recommendation changes depending on the enemy's heroes and the ones your team already picked. For your real match, load both teams in the tool and it builds the full comp for you.
Tanks: One shield tank to cross the distance without losing health (Magneto) and another who gets into the enemy backline (Venom).
Duelists: Duelists who close the gap quickly: Iron Fist, Magik, Psylocke. If they run several shields, adding a shield breaker like Punisher or Hela helps.
Healers: Mobile healers who can follow the push (White Fox, Jubilee), not static healers who stay far from the fight.
Common mistakes
Fighting at their range: that's exactly the game they chose.
Advancing one at a time: every hero who crosses alone is an easy target for the sniper.
Forgetting the shields: if you can't break them or go around them, your damage doesn't land.
